Federer turns down AO invite

Roger Federer has declined an invitation to attend this year’s Australian Open.

The Swiss star has decided spend more time with family at home.

Federer has made it clear he is not too interested in travelling to tournaments around the world, although Tennis Australia still remain confident they will be able to lure him to Melbourne next year, 20 years since he won the first of his six Australian Grand Slams.

Ash Barty will be heading back to Melbourne, where she will be making a number of appearances throughout the tournament.
