Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime was a shock second round loser at the BNP Paribas Open on Sunday, going down 6-7(4), 7-6(4), 3-6 to Botic van De Zandschulp of the Netherlands.

The ninth-ranked Auger-Aliassime fought off four match points — three in the second set and one in the third – but 59 unforced errors, eight double faults were his downfall in a match that lasted three hours and 15 minutes.

After winning the marathon second-set tiebreak, Auger-Aliassime lost serve to kick off the third set and ended up chasing the match.
