Novak Djokovic is ignoring all the odds, with the unvaxxed Serb hoping against hope of somehow squeezing his way past the American vaccine rules and into an entry at the US Open.

With an online petition as his only weapon – fans sign it if they want the Serb to be allowed around the COVID regulations which require all foreigners to be vaxxed to enter the US – the 36-year-old is keeping his head down with a Balkan training block.

Djokovic voiced his hopes of somehow still dodging the inflexible US border rules in an Instagram post.

“I’m preparing as if I will be allowed to compete while I await to hear if there is any room for me to travel to the US,” he said.

“Fingers crossed.”

Djokovic won Wimbledon after being deported from Australia in January for being unvaxxed.

The USTA has made no special effort on behalf of the former world No. 1, with the tournament saying it would abide by the current immigration rules.
