Novak Djokovic has been given a reprieve against any immediate deportation from Australia as Federal Court Judge Anthony Kelly pushed the injunction stopping his removal back to 8pm local time as government lawyers requested more time.
The case has been adjourned again, with little likelihood of a decision today.
Immigration cases of this nature in Australia usually last weeks, so asking for a brief adjournment would not be considered an issue for the court.
Djokovic had been freed temporarily from immigration detention for the duration of the hearing in Melbourne, with the injunction only granted until 4pm.
The unvaccinated world No.1 was deemed to have not provided adequate evidence of a medical exemption when he arrived in Melbourne on Wednesday and he is challenging that decision.
