Djoko counting on icepack to sooth his aching head

Novak Djokovic assured the tennis world that he’s fine after being accidentally clanked on the head with a stray water bottle but is counting in his trusty icepack to see him through.

The world No. 1 took to social media on Saturday to calm fans after the incident following his straight-set hammering of Corentin Moutet to reach the Rome Masters third round on Friday.

“Thank you for the messages of concern. This was an accident and I am fine resting at the hotel with an ice pack. See you all on Sunday,” he tweeted.

The object flew out of a spectator’s backpack as fans leaned down seeking autographs as the top seed exited Centre Court through a tunnel surrounded by seating stands.

Djokovic fell to the ground in pain and was attended by security before being taken to the locker room for a medical assessment which indicated no real damage done.

In a gesture of good humour, Djokovic appeared on site on Saturday, wearing a cycling helmet as he signed autographs for fans at the practice court just outside the stadium.

“This time I’m coming prepared,” the Serb captioned his brief film clip.
