No.7 seed Petra Kvitova moved into the third round of the BNP Paribas Open with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Arantxa Rus.
Kvitova swept to a 4-0 lead in there first set before winning in 30 minutes and then weathered a fightback from her Dutch opponent early in the second before again regaining composure to take out the match.
Kvitova’s booming forehand return had Run on the Blackfoot for much of the match, in second set she took. A 3-2 lead before winning the last five games of the match.
She will next face No.27 seed Victoria Azarenka of Belarus.
