Daniel Medvedev harbours some deep fears over the return to tennis of Rafael Nadal, with the world No. 3 wary of what he will be facing in 2024 on the Tour.

The 37-year-old Nadal is due back on court from this weekend in Brisbane after a year out injured – and Medvedev may not be looking forward to what he is sure to face next season.

Medvedev stands 1-5 against the Spaniard, with Nadal winning all three of their past finals – all on clay.

“Every season he’s part of, he’s going to win a lot of matches and he’s not going to lose too many,” Medvedev said,

“It’s very difficult to beat him; I’ve had less success against him than against Djokovic , to a certain extent (the Serb stands 6-2 in their series since 2020).

“(Against Nadal), there were some very close matches where I felt like I could have won, but where he ended up prevailing.

If I have to face him, it will be a big challenge.”

Medvedev added; “We don’t know what his form is right now, nobody knows , but from what I have seen he is doing great, and if he is fit, it will be great news for tennis.”
