Australia piled into the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga on Friday as Alex de Minaur sparked a 2-0 defeat of Finland in their semi-final.
The victory sent Lleyton Hewitt’s side into a second straight final at the Spanish-run competition.
De Minaur converted on five of 18 break point chances as he won his fourth straight match in the event, clinching the final four 6-4, 6-3 over Emil Ruusuvuori.
Teammate Alexei Popyrin’s started the day 7-6(5), 6-2 win over Otto Virtanen, with the victor calling his accomplishment “probably the biggest win of my career,”
He added: “To win a match that means so much for us is an honour and something that I will never forget.”
Australia play on Sunday against the winner from Serbia and Italy, which will feature a repeat of the ATP Finals match-up between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner.
Australia are seeking a first title in more than two decades since beating Spain in 2003 in Melbourne.
