Denis Shapovalov overcame compatriot  Felix Auger-Aliassime  6-4, 7-5  on Friday to reach the final of the Stockholm Open, where he will play American Tommy Paul.

In a battle of the two young Canadians, Shapovalov looked in control as he twice broke his opponent in the first set with some strong backhand play.

Shapovalov then saved saved two break points at 5-4 to take out the opening set.

Auger-Aliassime was back in the natch in the second  with a break of serve at 3-1, but Shapovalov took advantage of poor service to get back to 5-5 and claim the final two games to take the match.

In the other semi-final, Tommy Paul, who previously beat Andy Murray, defeated Frances Tiafoe 5-7, 7-6, 6-4 in a tight match.
